K12's comprehensive K–6 program—delivered in collaboration with iQ Academy—provides young minds with a learning environment like no other. We combine dynamic curriculum, teaching and support, a strong community, and special services into powerful, effective schooling, making the total experience greater than the sum of the parts.
Dynamic Curriculum
We offer courses in seven subjects: language arts/English, history, math, science, music, art and world languages. These are developed from the ground up with rich, challenging and engaging content, designed specifically for online delivery and individualized learning.
It's not all "online": You'll also receive boxes of traditional materials, including award-winning textbooks, CDs, videos, and hands-on materials that complement online learning. The combination of interactive online lessons with offline materials caters to varied learning styles, allowing the widest variety of students the opportunity to master lesson objectives. It's all part of a unique, patented methodology that K¹² has designed for educators, parents, and students.
The program is delivered through an easy to use, robust Online School (OLS) with the tools and technology to manage your account, lesson plans, attendance and schedule, and to communicate with teachers.

More About Parent/"Learning Coach" and Teacher Roles
In K–6, the parent (or other responsible adult), working in conjunction with the teacher, serves as "Learning Coach" to your student, helping facilitate progress through the daily lessons, and working to modify the pace and schedule according to your child's needs.
- Parents of children in grades K-6 can expect to spend three to five hours per day supporting their child's education
- You can expect that your child will spend five to six hours per day on coursework and homework, which most parents believe is "just right."
Although parents play the role of Learning Coach for their student(s) in managing the schedule and ensuring the student is completing work at a reasonable pace, they are never alone in the education process. The teacher communicates with you via e-mail, telephone, and online Web meetings. Teachers remain constantly involved to monitor progress, ensure mastery, and develop specific intervention plans when a child is struggling. The teacher manages all facets of the instructional experience.
We're Behind You All the Way
If you're like most parents, your excitement about taking an active role in your children's education is probably mixed with a little apprehension. After all, few parents are also subject-matter experts. We understand this and have specifically designed our program to give you the tools, skills, and support you need to act as your children's coach.
- Suggested lesson plans are provided to you each week, which update automatically as your child progresses.
- You can vary the lesson plan to accommodate your child's pace or abilities: for instance, some kids do better when they can concentrate their math studies for longer hours per day but fewer days per week.
- Other parents use their children's favorite subject as a reward to give the child a break periodically from tougher subjects.
- Or, you may need to take a day off or modify the schedule to accommodate a child's outside pursuits.
- Our online scheduling and management tools make it easy to move things around while ensuring your child stays on track.
When you join the iQ Academy family, we provide an array of practical advice, tips, and support through orientation, ongoing training, peer-mentoring, and more.
